Today I went up to my Dad's shop to say goodbye to some of the guys up there. One of the guy's name is Eric. He's from Riverside, CA and he always likes to sit around and talk. We talked about pain tolerance. He walked through a glass door one time and has scars all over his hands. The thing I notice about Eric is he moved from Riverside to Denton, NC. He loves the country, says he doesn't even have to take the keys out of his car at night. These are the types of guys who I want to introduce to Jesus. I think Eric knows Jesus, but I don't think his kids do. I know Eric goes to church.
Daniel, Kyle and I went into the Christian bookstore in Thomasville today as well. Oakley's Christian book store. I'm critical of Christian memrobellia and all the sentimental cards. I was glad when I saw an Os Guinesss and a Francis Schaffer book. I'd like to reorganize that place into a sweet library and have a big sell on some of that stuff. Put maybe a classroom in there and have some discussions about topics that matter. Christian book stores have great potential.
We also went into a mexican resturant. It's sometimes awkward seeing people you went to high school after not seeing them for four years. I saw some people today that I knew their names but never had never met. Probably should have went ahead and said whats up. Sometimes our pride makes us awkward. I was a jerk in high school. My prayer is that EDHS can have some ministry there. I think about teaching there sometimes after I get back from Slovakia.
Pray that unique ministries outside of church would rise up in Thomasville.
Nate
